Blank Round

Flexible branding for a streetwear company inspired by Asian culture.

Blank Round uses streetwear to tell the story of the Asian diaspora as it has been displaced and evolved through migration to western geographies. Blank Round challenged us to design a brand experience that could authentically connect heritage with arts and design.

The meaning behind the name Blank Round comes from the idea of a new evolution of Asian culture starting fresh on a blank canvas.

In our discovery phase, it became clear that it was important that the brand reflect the flexibility and adaptation of Asian culture as it has traveled through the world as well as serving as a backdrop for creative expression.

We  settled on a logo that serves as a framing device. This logo can expand or collapse to fit different sizes or become a frame.

To ensure the brand serves as a flexible backdrop for each collection, we opted for a neutral color palette. This approach ensures that each season's color scheme can stand out without clashing with the overall brand identity. The palette neutral acts as a backbone for the brand, ensuring consistency across all seasons and collections.

We chose a utilitarian grotesque sans as our typeface and we used black and white as our main brand colors to allow for the addition of other colors for different collections.
